South Africa: Top Dayspas and Spa Resorts to visit during the 2010 World Cup Soccer Event

Constantiaall.jpg
Visiting a Dayspa or Spa Resort when you’re in South Africa for the World Cup 2010 is a must! Soccer events are taking place in 10 venues across nine South African cities: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg and Pretoria and each region has their own selection of world-class spas.  So when you’re not following the games, on a tour bus  or fine dining, check yourself into one of South Africa’s top spas for a bit of pampering and relaxation.

Most credit cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, Diners, Amex) and in terms of pricing, as a rough guide, prices of spa treatments in South Africa usually range from about R300 - R600 for a massage or facial and between R500 to R1000 for a half day package and anything from R1500 to R3000 for a full day spa package, depending on which spa you visit and in which province you’re residing. Gauteng and Cape Town will be more expensive than Durban.
Hotel Spas are also the most expensive with massage treatments often starting around the R500 – R600 mark for a 1 hour treatment. Hotel Spas plus the more exclusive dayspas  - where you can expect to pay around the R300 / R400 mark for a1 hour treatment  - have all the facilities you’d expect to find at an exclusive spa resort ,such as Razul Chambers, Indoor-heated pools, Jacuzzi’s , Sauna’s and Steam baths. Dayspa packages are always available and are usually offered at a discounted rate. Most of these spas also offer cuisine, often as part of the spa package, either in one of their restaurants or in the spa itself, where you can relax by the pool or in the relaxation area in your gown and slippers and enjoy the spa ambience and your food in peace and tranquillity.
Along with this, many of the spas also have safe and secure crèches on site, so enquire about this when you’re making your booking if you have small children that need looking after.

Another great dayspa experience would be to check yourself into one of South Africa’s “African dayspas” for a full African spa experience. Here you’ll enjoy up to five or six treatments in one day as well as a delicious breakfast and lunch and a complimentary bar or soft drinks throughout the day. For example, a day spa programme would usually consist of the following:  A full body scrub, followed by a full body massage with hot stones, a relaxing African facial, Indian Head Massage, Hand Treatment and Foot treatment, plus the use of their Jacuzzi and other spa facilities. The nice thing about these spas is that transport to and from the spa from a central location is often included in the package, which may suit you if you are relying on public transport or taxi transport.

Along with this, many of South Africa’s game lodges also have beautiful luxury spas with fantastic views and facilities. So if you’re lucky enough to be visiting one of South Africa’s luxury game lodges, be sure to take in a treatment or two at their spa to add to your relaxing holiday experience.
